The entire show was great! I wish Boney would have stayed on for another hour. However it wasn't a total loss because I attended the Sea Breeze Jazz Festival in Panama City Beach, FL, and I saw Boney perform at that event in April.
I really enjoyed the show, Laylah was awesome, Unfortunately because I don't live in Atlanta I had to leave before Boney James performed.
#Atlantic city jazz festival 2021 portable
Staff put up some portable speakers but those eventually failed as well. Just after Lalah Hathaway started, speakers started fuzzing in and out, eventually going out completely. Upper lawn area needs to be graded better, some areas to steep to place chairs on. Rating: 3 out of 5 Speaker Issues by Tom on 6/1/23 Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - Mableton.Georgia’s weather wouldn’t let us enjoy the show all the way til the end and that I hate. Rating: 5 out of 5 Always Smooth by DaGlamma on 6/1/23 Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonĪs always no matter the venue, Boney James and Laila Hathaway comes thru! Both are smooth and cool by me.This was my 1st time seeing both Boney James and Lalah Hathaway, and wow!!! They were phenomenal!! Lalah's voice and notes are "other worldly", and Boney's voice on his saxophone was in point! They kept the hits coming all night long! With the exception of a bad speaker, the show was great!!!! Rating: 5 out of 5 Loved It! by Le on 6/10/23 Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - Mableton.Would go again next week if they played." He sounded great and his band was fantastic." He came off of the stage and danced with the audience, and he played to both sides of the stage. Boney seems almost unreal in how long he can hold a note. "Unbelievable! A non-stop wonderful show for almost 2 hours. Back on the road, he'll draw from his decade-spanning catalog to deliver fans an unforgettable night of virtuoso sax playing. Since then, he has released more than a dozen albums, selling more than three million records worldwide and earning a number of accolades including a Soul Train Award and two NAACP Image Awards. Following stints as a session player for acts like the Isley Brothers and Teena Marie and a featured role playing in Morris Day's band, James released his solo debut album Trust in 1992. In his teens, he was introduced to Motown and jazz saxophonist Grover Washington Jr., leading him to join a fusion band when his family moved him to Los Angeles at age 14. Boney James, began playing clarinet at age eight, switching to saxophone two years later. Massachusetts-born James Oppenheim, a.k.a. 3 Contemporary Jazz Artist of the Decade, and fans lucky enough to catch him on his upcoming tour will be left with no questions as to why. Taking the stage with his trusty Selmer Mark VI saxophone, James eschews the placidity of smooth jazz in favor of a bombastic playing style, and whether he's leading call and response with his band or tearing through an epic solo he never fails to bring the house down. Legendary sax man Boney James is a model of stamina and endurance, consistently wowing fans with his nonpareil virtuosity and herculean performances.
